A reception in honor of Westerville City Schools Board of Education member Cindy Crowe was held at Westerville Central High School on Thursday evening, May 15.  Mrs. Crowe recently resigned after serving 14 years on the Board, because of health complications brought on by Lou Gehrig’s disease.  Friends, family members, colleagues and educators gathered in the gymnasium to offer their thanks and support.  During her time in office the district earned the Excellent with Distinction designation three times from the Ohio Department of Education.  In addition, Mrs. Crowe played a role in guiding the schools to financial stability, helping to revive the Magnet School program, and bringing Challenge Day to high school students.  She also volunteered her time and expertise as a fundraiser, legislative advocate, and valued member of organizations including the Westerville Rotary Club, the Westerville Education Foundation, the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ohio School Boards Association.
