The Bette Marschall Memorial Education Fund of The Columbus Foundation has announced the recipients of nine grant awards totaling $2,946 to Westerville City Schools personnel for applications submitted this spring. Recipients are:
- Robin Shrilla, guidance counselor, Heritage Middle School, $375 to cover costs of conducting cryogenic experiments
- Patsy Labyk, Deb Ubry, Teresa Wagner, Kristin Hunt, and Emily Considine, teachers, Fouse Elementary School, $425 to purchase the Raz-Kids computer program for all five first grade classrooms
- Kelli Stuckey, teacher, Annehurst Elementary School, $381 to purchase subscriptions to Scholastic News Magazine for 78 second grade students
- Rachel Schultz, teacher, McVay Elementary School, $350 to purchase an individual iPad for a multiply handicapped student
- Victoria Cook, teacher, Blendon Middle School, $225 to subsidize the cost of taking courses toward earning a Master’s Degree in School Guidance Counseling
- Benjamin Jeffry Hartnell, teacher, Westerville North High School, $225 to subsidize costs of coursework at Otterbein University leading to his TESOL endorsement
- Jill Ponzi, guidance counselor, Heritage Middle School, $300 to establish a “Nadia Box” containing small personal hygiene items for girls at all four middle schools
- Debbie Pellington and Caley Nestor, counselor and teacher, Genoa Middle School, $240 to purchase three novels about the Renaissance Period that relate directly to the 7th Grade Social Study Standards
- Mary Taylor and Lisa Dapoz, Pointview Elementary School, teachers, $425 to purchase quality literature to begin a new program called “Books on the Bus” for students who ride McVay and Pointview buses.
