April is Arts Month and in Westerville, artwork created by students at the elementary and secondary level will be on public display Sunday afternoon, April 27.

Elementary art teachers and the Westerville Arts Council, Inc. will sponsor a reception at the Westerville Community Center, which is located at 350 North Cleveland Avenue.  This popular art exhibit has become a much anticipated annual event and will feature pieces created by pupils in kindergarten through grade five from all 14 Westerville City Schools elementaries.  This year’s reception runs from 1:00-2:30 p.m.  Dr. John Kellogg, Superintendent, will be the guest speaker.  In addition, the Emerson Taiko drummers, led by Mary Rebekah Fortman, will perform.  The art exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Later that same day, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., secondary schools will celebrate Arts Month with a display at the Westerville Public Library, which is located at 126 South State Street.  The show will highlight the accomplishments of selected students in grades six through twelve.  Light refreshments will be served during this open house.
