Community members filled the lanes at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace on Saturday, February 8, to raise money for the Westerville Chamber Foundation, the Westerville Education Foundation, and the Westerville Symphony.  It is anticipated that after expenses, each organization will receive approximately $8,000.

The 14th annual Westerville Community Bowl-a-thon also featured an Executive Challenge, where representatives from local businesses and organizations competed for the coveted Golden Bowling Pin trophy.  This year’s Executive Challenge drew 36 bowlers – more than ever before.  The prize was won again, for the third time, by Glenn Epting, with Edward Jones Investments, who bowled a 208.

A drawing was held for a grand prize package of various items collectively valued at $2,500, which was won by Marlo Richardson with Alliance Data.

For the second year, a Principal’s Challenge took place with the three Westerville high school leaders – Todd Spinner (Central), Kurt Yancey (North) and Steve Andersson (South) competing against each other.  Andersson was the high scorer with a two-game total of 254, but Yancey earned bragging rights once again because bowling scores were added to the number of student participants, team scores, and the amount of money raised at each school.

This year’s Bowl-a-thon was hosted by WBNS 10 TV news anchor Kristyn Hartman.  It was spearheaded by Kyle Stroh, past Chairman of the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce and member of the Chamber Foundation Board.  He is an attorney at Metz, Bailey & McLoughlin in Westerville.  A number of additional volunteers pitched in to make the event one of the most successful and well attended to date.
