Hello! The 2021-2022 school year will be my 9th year teaching at Huber Ridge Elementary! I teach English Language Arts (ELA), and my teaching partner, Mrs. Shilling teaches math, science/social studies. Our motto is: Work hard, play hard! Please click the links to the left and read about our routines and procedures in third grade.

At home, I have a Mini-Goldendoodle named Piedy; he's the best. I like to read, bike, swim and thanks to Girls on the Run, have rediscovered my desire to run! I love being active and outdoors and try to incorporate that into my teaching whenever possible.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to send a DOJO message or email me at comellae@wcsoh.org

Let's have a great year in third grade!

Ohio State Testing:

-During the 2021-22 school year, third graders will take two rounds of standardized tests to assess their reading skills. This test is known as "AIR" test. The first will be in October and the other will take place in April. In the state of Ohio, third graders are required to pass a standardized test or a district approved assessment in order to proceed to fourth grade.

The link below explains the Third Grade Guarantee Law instituted in all Ohio public elementary schools:

On-line phonics program-Lexia:

-Students CAN access Lexia from home, but please do NOT help your child complete these activities. It is important that they can independently answer the questions in order to master third grade material.

Homework:

Click the homework link to the left side of this page for comprehension activities for your child's text. If for some reason we do not have school, or your child does not have their homework binder, read any text for 15 minutes and choose an appropriate activity to complete. Nonfiction and fiction activities will differ. Please use capitals, proper punctuation, and complete sentences when answering the question.
