The Westerville City School District is pleased to announce the launch of its official app, which allows users to stay up-to-date with the latest news, events, and notifications from the district and schools of their choosing.  School events can be added to mobile device calendars; building information, such as addresses, phone numbers, and office hours, is easily accessible; daily lunch menus are available; and a staff directory makes employee contact information easy to find.

“We asked families what they wanted to see in an app and we used that feedback to develop this initial product,” said Greg Viebranz, executive director of communications & technology.  “We’re proud to provide our families with another communication tool that gives them quick access to the information they need most.”

The district’s visual communications coordinator, Matt Davis, developed the app in-house with support from SchoolPointe, which is the district’s website host and content management system provider.

Viebranz said that in addition to providing easy access to helpful information, the app also plays a key role in expanding safety communications.

“Our app allows users to receive push notifications, so if we have an emergency message to send to families, they have the option to have it pop up on their mobile phone or whatever portable device they may be using,” Viebranz explained.  “The app is a nice complement to the emergency communication system our district has established over the past few years.”
