The Bette Marschall Memorial Education Fund of The Columbus Foundation has announced the recipients of nine grant awards totaling $3,068 to Westerville City Schools personnel for applications submitted this spring. Recipients are:
- $300 to Mary Fuchs, teacher at Westerville South High School, to maintain the website for the school’s online newspaper, The Scribe;
- $152 to Kimberly Mason, ESL teacher at Walnut Springs Middle School, to purchase books for her Community Service Clubhouse project;
- $500 to Mara Clark and Kathy Riesterer, teachers at Emerson Elementary School, to help pay for 4th grade students to see a live Columbus Children’s Theatre performance of Tuck Everlasting;
- $471 to Jenn Cole and Debbie Pellington, teachers at Heritage Middle School, to purchase books and help with mailing costs associated with their Pen Pal Connection project;
- $45 to Matt Esh, ESL teacher at Westerville South High School, to purchase materials for his Medal of Achievement project;
- $500 to Aislynn Valentine, teacher at Westerville South High School, to defray costs for a field trip to the OSU Byrd Polar Climate Research Center to the UN Climate Change Simulation, also at OSU;
- $250 to Bridget Hilinski, teacher at Longfellow Elementary, to help her attend the Earth Expeditions program with Miami University’s Project Dragonfly;
- $500 to Beth O’Reilly, teacher at Wilder Elementary, to purchase books related to STEM, STEAM, and Maker Space projects, to help enrich use of school’s Maker Space; and
- $350 to Dennis Lackey, teacher at Westerville South High School, to fund his Zoology Class Trip to the Columbus Zoo, where they will culminate their study of the chordate phylum.
