A Huber Ridge student enjoyed experimenting with sound during the Energy Fair held there on February 11.
It is Energy Fair season for 5th graders in Westerville and every elementary school will be participating in a science day of discovery and learning. Pupils learn about light, sound, sources of energy, heat, electricity, and more. More than 375 students from all the high schools and middle schools in Westerville have trained to be part of an Energy Leadership Team. These teams facilitate 20 hands-on activities for 5th grade students across the district so they can deepen their understanding about the science and conservation of energy. The City of Westerville Electric Division has sponsored school events for 5th graders through the Westerville Energy Education Partnership since 2000.
Throughout the year, schools document their energy activities and accomplishments in a digital slideshow. On May 7, Ohio Energy Project's annual Youth Energy Celebration will recognize students, teachers and schools for their outstanding efforts in energy education. This year's event will be held at COSI.
