Westerville City Schools is committed to collaborating with all stakeholders in the creation of a Portrait of a Graduate. During a year filled with unpredictability and challenges, it is clear that students not only need to engage in learning experiences aligned with state standards, but they also need experiences that promote a variety of skills and competencies.

“Our team is working to ensure that we are intentional throughout our K-12 experience to prepare our students for the ever-changing world that will face them after graduation,” said Scott Reeves, executive director of Secondary Academic Affairs.

The Portrait of a Graduate will provide consistency in the district’s framework that ensures all students have educational experiences that prepare them from their elementary grades through their high school years to continue to effectively learn and contribute beyond graduation. This living document will be used to identify and formulate programming that will serve as our community’s collective vision in our efforts to be the benchmark of excellence in education.

“The competencies in the Portrait of a Graduate will empower all students to be productive citizens,” said Barbara Wallace, executive director of Elementary Academic Affairs.

More information on how individuals can help develop the Portrait of a Graduate will be released soon.
