Students, families, and friends of Hawthorne Elementary are invited to attend the school’s Community Resource Fair & Title I Night, scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 5, 2020. Hawthorne is located at 5001 Far-View Dr., Columbus.

This inaugural event will feature numerous academic activities led by Hawthorne teachers, provide games and resources for families to take home, and offer a Scholastic Book Fair featuring a surprise guest. Somali, Spanish, and Nepali interpreters will also be available.

Several community partners will be on hand to speak with and answer questions for attendees, including The Ohio State University colleges of Dentistry and Nursing (free vision screenings available), Healthy Lifestar of Ohio, Special Olympics, UMCH Family Services, Westerville Public Library, Westerville Area Resource Ministry, and Westerville Caring & Sharing. The Westerville City School District also will have resources available during the event, including English as a Second Language, Gifted Education, Special Education, and social-emotional supports. Information about various summer camps and other summer activities will be available so students and families can get a head start on keeping busy during summer vacation.

Also available to attendees will be a free store offering gently-used adult and children’s clothing, as well as shoes. Anyone visiting at least four stations at the Resource Fair will be able to shop the free store for the items they need.
