The Hawthorne Elementary community turned out in droves for the first-ever Block Party Extravaganza.

Hundreds of students and family members packed Strawberry Farms Park on Tuesday evening, October 8, for Hawthorne Elementary School’s first Block Party Extravaganza.  Food, drinks, games, face painting and a multitude of other activities kept attendees busy and happy.  Participants arrived in cars, on bikes, on scooters, on foot and even via van shuttles from the school.  Staff members donated all prize baskets and gifts.  The purpose was, simply, for the Hawthorne community to get to know each other in a fun and relaxing setting.  The successful event was a direct result of the vision of School Counselor Jenny Scherer.

“I am honored to be a part of this community,” said new principal Ernest Clinkscale.  “This is truly a special place to work.  It was a humbling experience to see this many families and community members come out for our first-ever event here at Strawberry Farms.  Assistant Principal Kristen Millet and I couldn’t be happier to lead this amazing staff and be part of the Hawthorne family.”
