Hawthorne Elementary tried something different this year for its fall fundraiser, and the gamble paid off in a big way.  The PTO hosted the school’s first annual Bubble Run on the track in front of the building.  Throughout the day on September 28, students came outside by grade level to run through the course, made more fun with the addition of bubble stations.  Friends, neighbors and family members sponsored their participation, and each received water and a snack before returning to their classrooms.  At the end of the event, the youngsters raised an amazing $9,522.23 for their school, which will help pay for field trips, assemblies, educational events and a field day at the conclusion of the academic year.

PTO Vice President Maggie Butler chaired the Bubble Run, with lots of help from other parent volunteers.  Principal Angela Ervin expressed her appreciation to her students and to everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success.
