Once again, Hawthorne Elementary School was packed for its annual Literacy Night, held Tuesday evening, March 14. More than 300 students and parents were able to dine together and choose books to take home for their own personal library. Teachers prepared games and activities for the pupils that focused on vocabulary, reading comprehension, and sight words. Representatives from the Westerville Library were also present to sign kids up for library cards and demonstrate “cool” technology tools like Makey Makey, Google Cardboard and Code-a-Pillar. Youngsters also got the opportunity to be photographed in a special picture booth with Elephant ant Piggy. A great time was had by all!
