Katie Ensell’s third grade class at Hawthorne Elementary School partnered recently with the Home Depot on Maxtown Road to bring a build-it workshop to the school’s Creation Station.  Hawthorne has the largest dedicated Maker Space (by square footage) in the Westerville City School District.  Home Depot managers Carol Osifchin and Gary Hall brought their expertise, along with needed supplies.  Students learned how to safely use tools to build their very own birdhouses, while also building their self-confidence.  “I’ve never used a hammer before,” one child exclaimed.  “And now I have my own birdhouse!”  A series of upcoming projects are being planned.
