Dr. Lisa HuelskampThe Ohio Association of Teacher Educators (OATE) has announced that this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Service Award is Lisa Huelskamp, PhD.  Dr. Huelskamp has taught at Westerville City Schools for 18 years as a science teacher, administrator, and is currently a middle school gifted facilitator.  This award is designed to formally recognize members of OATE for outstanding service to the organization and to teacher education.  Dr. Huelskamp has been a longstanding member of OATE and ATE (Association of Teacher Educators), the national affiliate where she served as an Ohio delegate for two terms and then as a national board member.

ATE and OATE promote quality teacher education programs for initial preparation, induction, and continuing professional development opportunities for P-12 school districts, agency-based, and college/university teacher educators.  ATE and OATE are the only state/national affiliate organization that represents individual educators in all disciplines.  OATE members meet in the fall and spring, attend ATE at the annual and/or summer conferences, receive updates on relevant topics/requirements from Ohio Board of Reagents and ODE, sponsor state awards and publish a recognized state OATE journal.
