The Minerva Park School Bell used to sit on the floor in a hall at Hawthorne Elementary School. Now, it has a beautiful new case and a place of prominence in the front foyer.

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Minerva Park, Hawthorne Elementary School Principal Angela Ervin had a custom display case built to show off the old Minerva Park school bell.  The cast iron bell used to sit on the floor in a hallway at the school and was not seen by the community.  It is now elevated and visible from the front door for everyone to see.

“The school bell is an important piece of history for both Hawthorne as well as Minerva Park.  The anniversary celebration seemed like the perfect time to put it on display for everyone to enjoy,” said Ervin.
