Otterbein student Katie Feltz, accompanied by professional musicians, performed a lively Irish jig for enthusiastic Hawthorne pupils.
Hawthorne Elementary students, many of whom were wearing green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, gathered in the gymnasium on Tuesday morning, March 17, to listen to a special performance by fifth grade teacher and professional Irish musician Mick Broderick and fellow musicians Bryan Brookes and Phil Franck, from the local group The Drowsy Lads. Otterbein student Katie Feltz danced for the children as well. Broderick used the opportunity to entertain and teach, as each band member talked about their instruments and offered some perspective about Ireland and its rich musical history.
