District Elementary Art Exhibit/Reception Celebrates Student Creativity

Westerville City Schools Board of Education president Gerrie Cotter addressed the audience at the District Elementary Art Show, held at the Westerville Community Center. 

 

 

 

Families gathered at the Westerville Community Center on Sunday afternoon, April 15, to view elementary artwork that has been on display there for the past two weeks.  A reception was held honoring parents, students and teachers for their success in supporting and promoting the arts in the lives of children throughout the community.  April is Celebration of the Arts Month, as proclaimed by the City of Westerville.  Westerville City Schools Board of Education President Gerrie Cotter, who talked about the importance of art in education, welcomed the large group.  Westerville City Schools and the Arts Council of Westerville have hosted district art shows each spring for several years.  Singers from Whittier Elementary, directed by Evan McIntyre, provided entertainment. 

Art created by secondary students in local middle and high schools, will be displayed at the Community Center through Sunday afternoon, April 29, when another reception will be held.
