Issue 8, the Westerville City School District’s November 5 levy request, will be the topic of discussion at three upcoming community forums designed to answer questions and promote open dialogue.  The meetings will take place as follows:

  • September 30, 6:30 p.m. – Hawthorne Elementary School, 5001 Far-View Drive, Columbus, Ohio
  • October 4, 10:00 a.m. – Genoa Township Administration Building, 5111 South Old 3C Road, Westerville, Ohio
  • October 9, 6:30 p.m., Annehurst Elementary School, 925 West Main Street, Westerville, Ohio.

Issue #8 is a combined 1.95 mill Bond and 5.9 mill Operating Levy, which means one vote covers both issues.  If approved, the collection of operating revenue would be delayed one year.  Issue 8 allows the district to avoid deficit spending while maintaining the program, staffing and service levels needed to manage projected enrollment growth.  The combined issue also funds Phase 1 of the district’s 10-Year Facilities Master Plan.

Many people mistakenly believe only residents in the City of Westerville can vote on school issues.  The truth is, anyone living within our school district can vote on school ballot issues.  Issue #8 will appear on your ballot if you live in a city, township, or village served by Westerville City Schools.
