A student shares his Leadership Notebook with Rev. Jim Wilson from Church of the Messiah.
Fouse Elementary School held its second annual Leader in Me Community Breakfast on Wednesday, May 15. Principal Robb Stranges, student leaders and staff welcomed business and community leaders to thank them for their support, leadership, donations, and generosity throughout the school year. Leader in Me is a Stephen Covey Program for elementary students that utilizes The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.
Guests were greeted by youngsters and enjoyed a light breakfast from Panera. Pupils from grades 2, 3, and 4 shared their Leadership Notebooks and explained their goal tracking sheets and their successes throughout the school year. Fifth graders created slideshows to define a specific habit and to demonstrate how they have used that particular habit to improve their lives both in and out of school. A student-led assembly followed, including fourth grade children signing the Pledge of Allegiance in American Sign Language. Student Council President Elijah Harris and Vice-president Oliver Moore recognized all of the student leaders and staff. The final activity was a Leadership Parade that recognized May Leaders of the Month.
Fouse will hold a summer retreat in August to plan Leader in Me Activities for 2019-2020. Organizers expressed their appreciation to Westerville business leaders, church leaders, and the Genoa police and fire departments for their ongoing support of the school.
