Westerville residents are invited to kick in 10 Bucks during the first 10 days of September to provide personal care items to 2,000 Westerville City Schools students.
Neighborhood Bridges, in coordination with Westerville City Schools, will be expanding the number of personal care pantries it installs and stocks throughout the school district. Last school year, thanks to a large donation from the 100+ Women of Westerville, personal care pantries were set up in all three Westerville high schools, at the Academic Enrichment Center, and in all four middle schools.
The personal care pantry idea came about after meetings took place with various school district counselors. They include items such as soap, body wash, shampoo for hair of all types, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products. Undergarments were added last year and thanks to the Westerville community, Neighbor to Neighbor, and the 10th of the Month Club, more than 3,000 pairs have already been provided to 14 buildings that requested them for the current school year.
Residents are urged to go online at neighborhood bridges, www.neighborhoodbridges.org/westerville-oh and donate $10. “A $10 gift will go a long way,” said Neighborhood Bridges CEO Rick Bannister.
