Hank Fincken’s portrayal of John Chapmen (aka Johnny Appleseed) showcased the good deeds of a non-violent man during violent times.
Fouse Elementary students and staff welcomed storyteller Hank Fincken to their school on February 8. Fincken, in character of Johnny Appleseed, shared some tall tale adventures concerning his travels throughout the Midwest. Pupils learned the difference between myths and tall tales, while learning about some of the history of Appleseed’s time.
For more than 20 years, Fincken has toured as a living history performer in Europe, South America and the United States. Numerous cultural institutions endorse him, including the Indiana and Ohio Humanities Councils.
