On January 3, more than 45 staff members gave up their teacher workday to complete one of three training days required for implementing an exciting new program at Fouse Elementary.

Leader in Me is an elementary program designed around Steven Covey’s The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, which has been widely used in the business world for many years.  The Seven Habits are based on powerful principles such as responsibility, vision, respect, teamwork, and balance.  It is a proven philosophy for adults and teens.  This program applies these principles to children.

This ongoing initiative will foster leadership roles for all students throughout their classrooms and the school.  It will also emphasize the implementation of goal setting and tracking personal and school-related goals.  The projects that will be added over the next four years include school character assemblies, community luncheons with civic leaders, and community outreach projects.

The program is currently being funded through Fouse PTO, student fundraising proceeds and a grant from the Delaware County Foundation.
