Parents in the Westerville City School District should mark their calendars for January 25, 2020, because that is when Parent Prep will be presented at Westerville North High School, which is located at 950 County Line Road.

The event will focus on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and will offer valuable information for parents of children in all grade levels (K-12).  SEL is the process of developing self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills necessary for school, work, and life success. According to the Committee for Children, people with strong social-emotional skills are better able to cope with everyday challenges and benefit academically, professionally, and socially. Children thrive. Schools win. Workplaces benefit. Society strengthens.  Learn more at https://www.cfchildren.org.

Participants will learn hands on strategies targeting self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills.  Sessions will target strategies (specific to age groups) for stress management, anxiety, test taking and executive functioning skills, and parenting basics.  In addition, law enforcement experts will provide information about school safety and various issues faced by today’s youth.  Attendees will be allowed to come and go as they please, and can visit the sessions of most interest to them throughout the day.

Additional details will be forthcoming.

The Westerville City School District would like to thank Westerville Education Challenge for its support of this inaugural Parent Prep event.
