Emerson Elementary students welcomed hip-hop dance instructor Michael Nicholson to their school on October 22 to teach them some moves as a reward for their stellar fundraising efforts.  During the Emerson Olympics and Penny War fundraisers, pupils brought in $7,000, which will be used to enrich their learning experience.

Brooklyn, New York native Nicholson began dancing at the age of eight, when he was enrolled in schools for the gifted and talented.  He later attended the High School of Art and Design where he studied commercial art and photography.  He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.  Nicholson currently runs a graphic design business in Gahanna, Ohio, and provides hip-hop fitness dance instruction at Life Time Fitness, Urban Active Fitness and Diamond Dance & Fitness.
