On Wednesday, March 14, Emerson Elementary School held its annual Pi Day celebration. Many of the math classes learned about pi and got to do fun Pi Day activities. All students were encouraged to participate in the school’s Pi Day contest by memorizing as many digits of pi as they could. The top three pupils from each class received a small prize, and the best student from each grade received a special Pi Day t-shirt. This year’s grade level winners were Bronson Haman (1st), Muhammad Abdulahi (2nd), Mira Shyamalan (3rd), Mason Wu (4th), and Shrey Shyamalan (5th). Shrey was also the highest overall scorer for Emerson this year, having memorized a whopping 167 digits of pi.
