The Westerville Education Foundation (WEF) finished 2017 with the success of their Double Donation December Campaign, raising more than $20,000 to fund innovative programs for Westerville City Schools students.  “The success of this campaign is an exciting indicator of the community support for the mission of the WEF,” said WEF Executive Director, Colleen Moidu.

This campaign was the largest in the WEF’s 25-year history, immediately following the WEF’s December announcement of 12 new grants, doubling the previous annual averages and reaching almost 10,000 students.

WEF Board President Erick Carter believes this is just the start of what is possible in 2018.  “As we approached our 25-year anniversary, the message from the Westerville community and district educators was clear.  Students benefit greatly from programs in Westerville Schools like the ones funded by the WEF.  Our ultimate goal is to fund even more programs in the future.”

Answering this call to action, in December of 2017 the WEF Board of Directors hired its first- ever Executive Director with a vision to advance the Foundation’s mission and enrich the learning opportunities available to Westerville City School District students.

Also answering the call to action were community partners who matched donations made to the WEF during the month of December: 2K General Company; Aqua-Tots Swim Schools of Westerville; Alliance Data; Dr. Larry Shepherd and Dr. Ellen Tamburello of Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians; Gandee and Associates; Gandee Heydinger Group, LLC; Garber Electric; The Garland Company; GroupEleven Consulting; Henry Painting; i9 Sports; Italian Body Shop D.B.A. IBS Collision Center; Lake Shore Cryotronics, Inc.; Phinney Industrial Roofing; TRIAD Architects; TRIAD Facility Solutions, Westerville Area Realty Association and The Little Gym of Polaris.

Other generous contributors to the campaign include Robert Woodruff; ULTIMAX, INC.; Spectra Contract Flooring; Todd and Nancy McFarland; The Goodsite Family; K-Guard Leaf Free Gutters and Fire Systems Professionals.

Throughout its history, the WEF has generated nearly a quarter-million dollars in funding to support innovative programs in Westerville City Schools.

“WEF is a wonderful organization. Good people helping teachers' visions come true in a classroom setting,” said Westerville North Science teacher and WEF grant recipient, Kyle Campbell.

“Our community is passionate about education and supporting innovation in our classrooms,” said Superintendent Dr. John Kellogg. “We appreciate the Westerville Educations Foundation’s efforts to make these connections and facilitate these innovative programs.  With everyone’s continued support we can’t wait to see what is possible this year.”
