Third grade students from five elementary schools (Emerson, Hanby, Hawthorne, Huber Ridge, and Whittier) presented a world cultures concert titled Nations Together in Song on Tuesday evening, November 15, at the Vineyard Church in Columbus.

In preparation for the show, all the children learned the same collection of musical numbers and choreography, including a Liberian tune, an Irish folk song, an Arabic song of peace, an upbeat French Canadian folk song, a song based on a 12th century Japanese haiku poem, and a medley of folk songs from North America.  The group was directed by Mary Fortman (Emerson and Hanby), Cynthia Kinser (Huber Ridge), Evan McIntyre (Whittier), and Sarah McPeak (Hawthorne).

The goal was to create a shared musical experience and a sense of unity among the elementary schools and community.
