Mike Ward, former Custodial Manager for Westerville City Schools, recently published a book titled, Who Swings Your Mop?  The Common Sense Approach to Custodial Work.  He says the 162-page self-help publication was written to enable custodians to have all the answers and tools to make them successful while giving them the skills to motivate themselves and others.  Chapters include:  You Get What You Advertise; Teamwork Is Not the Answer; Where Did I Put That?; Unlocking the Door; Power, Power, Power; and Putting Your Trash in the Right Barrel.

Ward has worked in the custodial industry for nearly 30 years in four school districts in both Ohio and Colorado.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with concentration in Human Resources Management.  He hopes his publication will help all custodians excel and have pride in their profession.  Ward dedicated the book to the late Dr. Christopher Wanner, a Westerville City Schools administrator who, he wrote, “encouraged me and believed in my abilities as a leader.”
