Bette Marschall Memorial Education Fund Awards $3,082 in Grants

The Bette Marschall Memorial Education Fund of The Columbus Foundation has announced the recipients of 12 grant awards totaling $3,148 to Westerville City Schools personnel for applications submitted this fall.  Recipients are:

• $200 to Betsy Beaver at Westerville North High School to purchase a set of graphic novels for use by her Modern World History students;

• $208 to Cassandra Lawson, transition specialist for the Best of Both Worlds (BOBW) program, to purchase coveralls and shoe covers for use by BOBW students from all three Westerville High Schools;

• $500 to Lindsey Lonchyna at Walnut Springs Middle School to help pay transportation costs for an 8^th grade field trip to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati;

• $75 to Matt Esh at Westerville South High School to purchase ribbons and medals to be used as motivational rewards for ESL students;

• $150 to Ben Hartnell, Social Studies teacher at Westerville North High School, to purchase materials to help create an exciting, engaging learning environment;

• $370 to Christine Eshenbaugh, speech therapist at Wilder and Annehurst Elementary Schools, to purchase Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices for students in her multiple handicapped classrooms;

• $200 to Amanda Anderson, reading intervention specialist at Annehurst Elementary, to purchase sensory supports for primary grade general education students;
• $200 to Damon Mollenkopf, Westerville North High School (WNHS), to purchase audio production equipment for the WNHS Media Arts program;

• $450 to Jeffrey Miltko, Emerson Elementary School, to purchase a set of Lego Mindstorms EV3 materials to begin a robotics club for students in grades 3-5;

• $295 to Aislynn Valentine, Westerville South High School, to pay for costs associated with a field trip for her AP Environmental Science and Ecology students to Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park;

• $300 to Rachel Schultz, McVay Elementary, to purchase assistive technology for students with multiple disabilities to participate in lessons with their general education peers; and

• $200 to Pamela Todd, Library Media Specialist at Mark Twain Elementary, to purchase books for the library that encompass culture, language, and ethnicity of the school’s growing international population.
