Fourth graders help Linda Pettit with her erosion demonstration.
Linda Pettit from the Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District spent the day at Emerson Elementary teaching third and fourth graders about soil and erosion. Students had a great time learning from the hands-on experiments that helped demonstrate the process of erosion. As water trickled through the samples of earth, pupils could see the effects of erosion on the land in real time. This demonstration furthered their discussions of the effects of erosion and weathering on the environment as a whole.
