Junior Achievement Builds Future Entrepreneurs at Emerson Elementary

Pupils at Emerson Elementary School got to explore the ins and outs of starting one’s own business through lessons provided by Junior Achievement (JA).  Many people are familiar with the great experiences students receive in fifth grade from participating in Biz Town, but fewer people know about the other programs JA has to offer elementary students.  Julie Hedrick and Jessica Williams, both Emerson parents, facilitated these activities for Emerson fourth graders this year.  Hedrick, who also owns her own business, was able to relate her own experiences as an entrepreneur.  Students made real-world connections learning from Hedrick’s stories about her time as the cofounder of Blue Skies HD Video, a videography company based in Westerville. JA’s engaging activities and games allowed students to be curious about entrepreneurship, and creatively act out what it’s like to be a business owner.
