During the week of October 6, Emerson Magnet School held a not-so-ordinary Scholastic Book Fair.  Students and staff were inspired by a recent visit from Westerville Partners for Education (WPE) representatives, who, through their Book Bonanza! program, provided each third grade student with a book to take home and keep.    Emerson decided Scholastic Book Fair week was the perfect time to bring in and donate gently used books.  Students responded generously, and by the week’s end, they brought in more than 675 books, which were donated back to the WPE for distribution at other schools in the district.

Each pupil who donated a book received a raffle ticket for a basket filled with brand new books, valued at $100.  Matthew Givens won the prize.  Emerson Principal Monica Brown said, “Congratulations to all Emerson students who had a hand in enriching the literacy lives of their peers!”
