The Challenger Division of the Blendon Westerville Little League (BWLL) program is hosting its All-Star Game 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8 at Hoff Woods Park, Diamond 5.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the BWLL’s Challenger Division, which is the Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges. It is the only one of its kind in Central Ohio.

Families are invited to attend the All-Star Game, where representatives from Westerville Police and the Westerville Division of Fire will be on hand to help present trophies to players. Jeff Davis, director of Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, and Tracy Davidson, a Westerville City Schools board member, will serve as honorary coaches and throw out the first pitch. Former player Sam Shepherd of InnerVision will sing the national anthem, which he recently sang at a Cincinnati Reds game. Kona Ice will be on site.

Players will play for two to three innings and are assisted as needed by "buddies" on and off the field.
