At the Regular Session of the Westerville City Schools Board of Education held on February 11, Alcott Elementary School fifth grade teacher Linda Amici was recognized as the recipient of a 2018 Sanford Teacher Award. This program selects one educator from each state, as well as the District of Columbia, who:
- Exemplifies inspired teaching through their enthusiasm, empathy and warmth toward all students;
- Fosters positive relations;
- Creates exemplary learning environments; and
- Recognizes student strengths.
Amici received a $10,000 award and gift bag from Sanford, and is in the running for national honors, which carries a $50,000 grand prize total.
