It was truly a night to be remembered.  Red carpet, packed house, spectacular live performances, awards, refreshments, and the premiere of a long-awaited, brand new CD.  Hollywood was no match for Alcott Elementary School Friday evening, March 2, when Jim Ledford’s first grade students hosted the Alcott Grammy Awards in the media center.  A hush fell over the audience when golden envelopes were opened to reveal winning choices in the categories of songs about Social Studies and Science, Math, Seasons, Friends, Fun and Reading.

The event featured “Mr. L’s Rockin’ Class” singing 20 original songs like Snow Day, We are All Different, Alligator Song, and Untied Shoes Blues.  Ledford accompanied the group on guitar and banjo, and Casey Wright played percussion.  CDs, which were professionally recorded at Blue Moon Studies, were sold to parents after the star-studded gala.
