Following the Regional Invention Convention Competition held at Tolles Career and Technical Center on May 7, a number of Westerville City Schools students have advanced to the national contest. They are:
- Madison Morrison and Paul Spielburg, grade 8, Walnut Springs Middle School, 2nd place (Team), “S&M Mouth Cooling Spray”;
- Meredith Johnson, grade 4, Alcott Elementary School, 1st place, “Chore Charms Bracelet”;
- Anna Huddle and Wendy Ortega, grade 8, Genoa Middle School, 1st place (Team), “Brush it Out”; and
- Abby Fassel and Maia McCown, grade 5, Mark Twain Elementary School, superior (Team), “Tissue Trinket.”
The 2016 National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE) is being held May 19-21 in Alexandria, Virginia at the USPO headquarters. It provides a live, in-person opportunity for youth inventors and entrepreneurs in grades 4-12 to display their critical thinking skills through inventing, innovating, and entrepreneurial activities. This is an invitation-only event.
