Third graders at Alcott Elementary School took part in a Reading Fair on Friday, April 29.  They were asked to pick a book of their choice, read it and create a poster board with details about the publication.  Eight judges, many former Westerville City Schools teachers, came out to judge the posters as well as the student’s knowledge of the book.  They looked at the clarity of the writing, the creativity of the poster, the thoroughness of the written information, the interest that their project evoked and the overall quality of the project.  The top scoring students from each classroom received a credit towards the Scholastic Book Fair (compliments of Alcott PTA) going on right now at the school.  Parents were then able to come and view all the posters that evening.

Top winners from each class (and their teachers) were:

  • Catherine Graff (Cody), Peyton Frank (Kaylor), Aaron Frazier (Kellum), and Ritt Burky (Koenig).
  • Nonfiction Most Creative:  Jacob Bentz (Cody), Daniel Chops (Kaylor), Caroline Williams (Kellum), and Kanon Newsom (Koenig).
  •  Holden Tomlin (Cody), Joshua Manoharan (Kaylor), Jacob Blaz (Kellum), and Arden Smith (Koenig).
  • Fiction Most Creative:  Ronald Jackson (Cody), Jaden Bentz (Kaylor), Caleb Manoharan (Kellum), and Evan Smith (Koenig).
