Anyone visiting Alcott Elementary School on April 29 may have noticed that the principal that day was a little shorter and younger than those usually serving in that capacity. Third grade pupil Joshua Manoharan became Student Principal for the Day after his name was drawn in a raffle at the school’s annual Pancake Breakfast. Manoharan reported for duty carrying a clipboard and dressed appropriately in professional attire, including a tie. He followed regular Principal Lauren DeMars’ daily schedule by greeting students, staff and special guests. He also helped set up for a Columbus Zoo assembly and made sure the baby chicks were safe in the kindergarten hall. Students and staff were impressed with his diligence. Manoharan is a student in Gloria Kaylor’s class.
